Today, there is much to see and do in the beautiful Schoharie Valley. There are numerous agricultural operations that provide fruits, vegetable, eggs, herbs, plants, trees and shrubs, dairy products and meat to consumers. (See: schoharievalley.org and go to members, then click on Farms and Nurseries).
The Schoharie Creek offers the opportunity for many different kinds of activities: rafting, kayaking (Google: Boat Launch Sites for Schoharie Co., for kayaking, rafting experiences Google: Schoharie Creek: Esperance to Burtonsville Kayak to see a 5 minute video). There are also opportunities for young people to have fun and gain knowledge. (See: www.schoharierivercenter.org and also, youth@Co.Schoharie.ny.us).
For biking tours Google: Schoharie Co. Bicycle Tours in Howes Cave, NY. One can also simply drive along NYS Route 30, a 300-mile route from Route 17 in the Southern Tier to the Canadian Border. In Schoharie County, Route 30 follows much of the Schoharie Creek and passes through the Village. Perhaps the most well-known attractions in the region are Howe Caverns and Secret Caverns, both just a few miles northwest of the village. Both offer underground tours, one with an underground waterfall and the other with an underground lake.
