The first Easter Egg Hunt was held in 1986 on the lawns of Schoharie Central School. This event has continued through the years at various locations in the Village, including Depot Lane and Cooper Ark Farm. Each hunt brings smiles to many children, as well as the fun of the hunt, tasty chocolate bunnies for all, and prize awards for lucky winners.

Village-Wide Yard Sale Day
The first village-wide yard sale day was on Saturday, September 10, 1983. With about 50 residents taking part in the day and under the direction of Faye Barton, about 5000 people were drawn to the village in search of bargains. The annual event has been held every year since 1983, except in 2011 and 2012 when the Village was rebuilding from hurricanes rene and Lee. It’s always is a fun day with music in the courtyard, pony rides, a chicken barbeque and much more.
We invite growers, crafters, artisans, and vendors to participate in our festival. This is a great time to attract leaf peepers and to showcase Schoharie County’s fall produce. Registration is $15 to help with the cost of advertising.
Old Stone Fort Stone Fort Days/History Fair
One of the biggest of our Fall events is the annual Old Stone Fort celebration of our region’s history. Stone Fort Days is held every second year and recaptures the spirit of our colonial era life and times. The History Fair is held in the intervening years and takes a broader look at the sweep of history through to the present day. For information on these events, visit https://www.theoldstonefort.org
Autumn Bakeoff Contest
Using the season’s harvest, bakers compete to be the best entries in our contest. After the judging, the items are auctioned off. Proceeds support the Schoharie Promotional Association’s many projects and events.
Trunk or Treat
With most of the village rebuilding after the 2011 flood, there wasn’t a safe option that year for children to go trick-or-treating. The Promotional Association decided to start a Trunk or Treat event where cars park in designated areas, open their trunks and provide treats to trick or treaters. The event is now a Fall mainstay in the Village.
