Economic Development Organizations (EDOs)
The Village of Schoharie is home to several EDOs that can assist both new and existing businesses!
Schoharie Community Development Corporation
The principle economic development entity in the Village of Schoharie is the Schoharie Community Development Corporation (SCDC). The SCDC can assist in the planning of your project and in securing of financial incentives. The SCDC’s services include: consultation, grant writing, program delivery, and more. Visit the SCDC’s website here [link] for more information
Schoharie Chamber of Commerce
The Schoharie Chamber of Commerce is a business advocacy group established to represent the interests of business owners in Schoharie. The Village highly recommends that any newcomers join the chamber to make sure their voice is heard. Visit the Chamber of Commerce’s website here for more information.
Schoharie Promotional Association
Think of the Promotional Association as an advertising department for the entire region. They are another good friend for any local business. Visit the Promotional Association’s website for more information here.
The Village of Schoharie offers financial incentives for newcomers and veteran business owners alike.
Historic Preservation District
Almost the entirety of the Village of Schoharie, including the entire central business district, has been designated as a Historic Preservation District. This unique distinction allows for substantial Federal and State tax credits to incentivize the rehabilitation of existing commercial units. If tax credits are not feasible for your project, Historic Preservation grants are also available in lieu of tax credits. Rules and restrictions apply. Please contact the Schoharie Community Development Corporation (SCDC) for additional information here.
